Information About 555 IC

The subject of the “Electrical Circuits Laboratory (EEM 206)” lecture which is studied in the Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering of Anadolu University in the fall term of the 2016-2017 academic year is “Simple Piano”.
In this report shows us, information about 555 integrated circuit, The IC’s purpose, using areas, effects on our circuit, frequency calculating etc. Also, the simple piano circuit’s Proteus sketch are seen in this report.

1.1INFORMATION ABOUT 555 INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
555 is an integrated circuit which used a timer, oscillation applications and circuits. To this circuit I used timer purpose of IC. The timer IC has 8 pins, 4 pins are on the left and 4 pins are on the right. The 555 Integrated Circuit (IC) is an easy to use timer that has many applications. It’s very cheap to purchase.
PIN Connections:
Pin 1 (Ground)
Pin 2 (Trigger)
Pin 3 (Output)
Pin 4 (Reset)
Pin 5 (Control)
Pin 6 (Threshold)
Pin 7 (Discharge)
Pin 8 (Supply)
Purposes:
PIN 1 ‘GROUND’: Ground, low level (0 V).
PIN 2 ‘TRIGGER’: OUT Rises, and interval starts. When this input falls below 1/3 VCC.
PIN 3 ‘OUTPUT’: This output is driven to + VCC or GND.
PIN 4 ‘RESET’: Active low- interrupts the timing interval at OUTPUT.
PIN 5 ‘CONTROL VOLTAGE’: Control Access to the internal voltage divider. The default is 2/3 VCC.
PIN 6 ‘THRESHOLD’: The interval ends when the voltage at THR is greater than at CTRL.
PIN 7 ‘DISCHARGE’: Open collector output. It may discharge a capacitor between intervals.
PIN 8 ‘VCC’: Positive supply voltage is usually between 3-15 Volts.
Picture
Mono stable Mode: The 555 functions as one-shot pulse generator. The mono stable 555 is using timers, missing pulse detection, bounce free switches, touch switches, frequency divider, capacitance measurement, pulse-width modulation (PWM) and etc.
A stable- Free Running Mode: The IC 555 can operate as an oscillator. Using areas LED and lamp flashers, pulse generation, logic clocks, tone generation, security alarms, pulse position modulation and etc.
Bi stable Mode or Schmitt Trigger: The 555 can operate as a flip-flop, if the DIS pin is not connected and no capacitor is used. Using areas bounce free latched switches.
